Weather on Your Bridger Watch

Your Bridger Watch displays current weather conditions and forecasts using data from the Bridger Watch app on your phone. To refresh weather data, your watch must be connected to the app, and your phone must have an internet connection and Location Services enabled.

Why doesn't the current temperature update automatically?

To maximize battery life, your Bridger Watch does not continuously request weather updates in the background. Instead, weather information is refreshed whenever the Bridger Watch app performs a full app sync.

This approach reduces battery usage while ensuring you can quickly retrieve the latest conditions whenever you open the app and allow it to sync.

To update the current temperature:

  1. Open the Bridger Watch app.
  1. Make sure your watch is connected.
  1. Wait a few moments for the app to communicate with your watch. If a sync doesn't begin automatically, swipe down on the main screen of the app to manually refresh.
  1. Wait for the sync to complete.
  1. Return to the Weather screen on your watch to view the updated conditions.
Note: The Watch Sync button is used to sync waypoints, tracks, routes, and other map data. It does not refresh weather information.

Troubleshooting

If the weather isn't updating or appears incorrect, verify the following:

  • Your watch is connected to the Bridger Watch app.
  • Your phone has an active internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular).
  • Location Services are enabled for the Bridger Watch app.
  • The Bridger Watch app has permission to access your location:
    • iPhone: Allow Location Access = Always
    • Android: Location Permission = Allow all the time
  • Your watch has completed a recent app sync.

Why is the temperature different from another weather app?

It's normal for the temperature shown on your Bridger Watch to differ slightly from other weather apps.

Different weather providers may use different weather stations, forecast models, and update schedules. As a result, small differences in temperature or weather conditions are expected.

Battery-First Design

Battery life has always been a core design priority for Bridger.

Rather than continuously refreshing weather in the background—which would increase battery usage on both your watch and your phone—weather updates occur only during an app sync. This approach helps maximize battery life while still giving you quick access to current conditions whenever you open the Bridger Watch app.
