How to Verify Your Offline Maps Before Your Hunt

"How do I know my maps are actually on my watch before I leave home?"

Since we recommend downloading your maps over your home Wi-Fi, you won't be physically in the area to confirm they're available offline. Fortunately, there's an easy way to verify your downloaded maps before your trip. After you've synced your maps, follow these steps to view them on your watch.

Step 1: Create a Waypoint

In the Bridger App, create a waypoint somewhere within the map area you wish to validate. Do this by pressing and holding anywhere on the map until the New Waypoint window appears.

Then sync the waypoint to your watch by selecting the Watch Sync button in the upper right corner of the app's home screen while your watch is paired and near your phone.

Step 2: Open the Waypoint on Your Watch

On your watch:

  • Open Maps by pressing the upper left button.
  • Press the upper right Select button.
  • Select Waypoints List.
  • Select the waypoint you created.
  • Select View Waypoint.

Your watch will jump directly to that location on the map.

Step 3: Verify Your Maps

Once the map opens:

  • Pan around the surrounding area using the touchscreen.
  • Confirm that all of the map area you expect to have downloaded is visible.
  • Continue panning throughout the area where you'll be hunting to ensure everything has been downloaded.

If the map loads and you can freely pan around without missing tiles, your maps are stored locally on your watch and are ready to use—even without cell service or Wi-Fi.

If You Notice Missing Map Areas

If parts of your hunting area are not visible:

  • Return to the Bridger App.
  • Download any additional map areas you need.
  • Sync your maps to your watch again.
  • Repeat the verification steps above until you've confirmed the entire area is available offline.

We highly recommend verifying your maps before you leave for your trip so you can head into the field with confidence.
