If your RECKON isn't charging reliably, dirt, sweat, or mineral buildup on the charging contacts may be preventing a good connection. Cleaning the contacts can help restore reliable charging.
NOTICE: Never clean your watch or charging cable while connected to power. Always allow the watch to dry completely before charging.
You'll Need
- Fresh water
- 70% or higher isopropyl alcohol
- Cotton swab or a soft toothbrush
- Soft, lint-free cloth
- Clean pencil eraser (optional, for stubborn buildup)
To Clean the Charging Contacts
- Remove the watch from the charger.
- Rinse the back of the watch under fresh running water for 10–15 seconds to dissolve salt, sweat, or other residue.
- Dry the watch with a soft cloth.
- Lightly dampen a cotton swab or soft toothbrush with isopropyl alcohol.
- Gently clean the charging contacts and the plastic between them. Be sure to clean between the contacts, not just the surface, as residue between the contacts can also affect charging.
- If a contact has stubborn discoloration or buildup, gently rub it with a clean pencil eraser. Then wipe the area again with isopropyl alcohol to remove any eraser residue.
- Unplug the charging cable from its power source, then clean the charging pins with a cotton swab dampened with isopropyl alcohol. Do not rinse the charger with water.
- Allow both the watch and charger to air dry completely for several minutes before reconnecting the charger.
Preventing Charging Issues or Corrosion
To reduce buildup on the charging contacts:
- Rinse your watch with fresh water after sweaty workouts or exposure to salt water.
- Avoid placing the watch on the charger while it is wet or sweaty.
- Periodically inspect and clean both the watch contacts and the charging pins.
